FAQ
Q. How does somatic release work?
A. CranioSacral Therapy works to relieve emotions from the body as well as physical pain through somatic emotional release. This is a therapeutic process that helps rid the mind and body of residual past trauma associated with negative experiences. The energy from the impact or situation can get lodged in your body. It is believed that the organs, tissues, and possibly individual cells hold memory. Through the application of SER hands on communication with the client, we are able to create a dialogue with the areas of the body that are holding memories of past traumas. By holding a therapeutic space, that practitioner, along with the client have the ability to bring the memories to the surface in order to create transformation of the emotions that may be causing disconnection and disharmony to occur within the soma (body)of the individual client.
Somatic therapy offers a variety of benefits. It reframes and transforms current or past negative experiences, inculcates greater sense of oneself, confidence, resilience and hope. It reduces discomfort, strain and stress while developing a heightened ability to concentrate. Dr. Upledger, (one of the pioneers of the practice), explains the initiation of the SER (somatic emotional release) by the process of hands on communication between therapeutic facilitator and client. Psychiatrists and Pyschotherapits who have participated in the SER process often liken it to the body psychotherapy.
Q. What is the emotional impact of what you do?
A. What a great question! The emotional impact is usually up to you. By this I mean, often there can be resistance that is held onto at times that needs to broken down over the course of the sessions. Consequently, there are other instances when it is felt directly on the table. There are moments that a trauma can be revealed through an image or sound during the session and it is dealt with between the practitioner and client at that moment. However, there are often other experiences that may not be truly felt for 24-48 hours later. We will hold the space for you to allow you to feel safe and comforted during the time when you may be experiencing an upheaval of emotions.
Q. What is Body work?
A. Bodywork is essential intertwined with massage. Essentially they are of the same lineage. Bodywork is often a more holistic style of approach that can entail more emphasis on breathing, energy medicine and also other modalities that goes along with therapeutic massage.
Q. how often shoud I do Body work?
A. We will work with you to get a better understanding of what the right route is to take in the duration of your treatments. Everyone is an individual and lives different lifestyles. Essentially, the more high-paced, active, and stressful lifestyle usually correlates into a closer duration of time between visits. We recommend engaging in bodywork at the very least, once a month and often more regularly depending on the situation.
Q. What is the difference between reiki and what you do?
A. Well, I was originally taught in a very traditional kind of way. I was taught to keep your hand placements on top of the desired energy centers or chakras and not to move them until you feel or notice a sensation. However, over the years, as we begin to become aware and cultivate our craft, our awareness is a part of us that deepens as a result. As I began to practice more, I would later have more moving images floating through my mind and they would thus play out as scenarios or be guide posts for the client on the table. I went from being very practical in my approach to letting go and letting spirit be the driver. I also learned in the true dynamic of teamwork and collaboration between myself and the client. Consequently, all of my experiences have led me to develop more of a way that felt right to me. Everyone has their own approach and I do not believe one is better than the other. I simply feel that as long as I’m holding a proper space with the client and my intention is pure, then the rest unfolds in the divinely orchestrated manner.
Q. Do you perform Reiki?
Yes, I have been studying Reiki now for close to 15 years. I began by learning the Usui method of Reiki back in 2006. It has been a modality that I have put into practice ever since. I have had the wonderful opportunity to utilize this ancient form of healing with many people and as a result have personally witnessed a multitude of transformations occur through the application of Reiki.
Furthermore, it has brought me the most joy when the client can begin to feel their own energies or “qi” and thus become aware of their individual ability apply it to oneself and understand what they behold from within.
Q. how often should I do energy work?
A. Again, we usually consult with the client and get a better understanding of their intention for doing the work and where they would like to take the work they are receiving at the time. Everyone processes and assimilates the energies and new information differently. We usually recommend 5-7 days in between healing sessions to fully integrate the teaching and learnings they had gained from their experience.
Q.What will I learn from Past life work?
A. Past life work is a gateway that leads into better understanding our fuller selves. This work can bring some clarity on why we may be continuing certain patterns or why we are having certain experiences that feel familiar. Through these realizations, we then have the knowledge to break the chains and habits that are keeping us from learning the invaluable lessons they we need to learn for this lifetime.
Q. Can you help with anxiety?
A. Yes, we get a lot of cases of anxiety. Anxiety can be a tricky thing. As we all know, life creates a lot of experiences that can put you in a sympathetic or fight or flight state of the nervous system. You may be stressed and might not be breathing properly, or you could possibly have experienced some form of trauma in you life. Using Somatic Emotional Release and Energy work, we transform the energies held in the organs of the body that may be holding emotions or a stagnation of energies which is not allowing you to feel the fullness of life and impeding your Qi. We recognize that anxiety is a very real and serious matter and we treat the client with the utmost of care as they are displaying their bravery to confront this matter. We utilize the application of various different techniques and modalities in order to help you find balance. Over the years, we have had much success in reconnecting our clientsl back into a more balanced state.
Q. Can you help with depression?

We once again do our best to find the root of what may be causing your depression. We speak with you and a hold a space for you to allow you to feel safe and to open up if you choose to do so at the time of the session. We then provide a list of possible modalities that may be helpful and also recommend possible outside sources of assistance from our network if we deem it to be appropriate.
Q. Can you help chronic pain?
A. Yes, we can most certainly assist you with your chronic pain. We firmly believe in first uncovering the root of the pain. Some of pain can be masked by other factors. Some pain can be a result of a fall or an accident of some sort, while discomfort or pain could be a direct manifestation of an emotional blockage. We will work with you to assess your pain. From that point, we do our best in beginning to understand and formulate a method or treatment plan that fits you and your prescribed level of discomfort and resolve these issues physically, emotionally and spiritually.
